Memories of St. Michael Mass and Procession
On Saturday, September 28, 2013, the Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel presented the Second Annual St. Michael Feast and Procession to honor local police officers, both living and deceased. Approximately 50 police officers from over a dozen local communities participated, including the City of Chicago Police Department Emeral Isle Bagpipes.
Following the solemn Mass, the statue of St. Michael was carried on the shoulders of policemen through the streets of Melrose Park, accompanied by a line of squad cars, the Emerald Isle Bagpipes, Italian Societies, Caliendo's Banda Napolitana and many, many devotees, police officers and their families. A reception followed on the Piazza.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 5th for the Third Annual St. Michael Feast and Procession. We hope it will be even more successful than last year's.
